We are looking for a good site around the Newquay area. We are relatively novice TT campers with 3 kids (6,5,4) and want a site close to beach and with a pool. Here is my query....the big sites, the Parkdeans and Havens that take campers are they just huge theme parks with no soul?
I'd like a site where there are kids for my kids and a good playground any advice and or for/against the big boys? Or any definate recomendations.
Much thanks for any help and pointers.

Hendra is a superb site and has everything you're looking for. Ok, there's no beach within walking distance but it's only a short drive away or the bus stops right outside the site. Watch out for the cancellation fee when booking, they don't tell you about it til it's added on at the end and if you don't want it you have to notify them in writing, an e mail usually does the trick
We stayed at Watergate Bay last year and are returnin again this July/August...it has all you need and not too far from the beach..altho we didnt walk to the beach..there is a free minibus service takes you there and back or you can take the car and theres car parks there...
In 2008 we stayed at Pentewan Sands..another fab site which actually has its own beach...we had a front row pitch overlookin the sea..it was beautiful and we have said we'll return there also...
Both sites are all singin all dancin...pool..playgrounds..club house..restaurant..games rooms.. ect

Trevornick for us too! We had a fantastic time. It has a couple of bars, a pool, a great kids club morning and evening which was a god-send when the weather was bad, and about 10 mins walk from beautiful holywell bay. We dont like haven sites and felt trevornick was great for the kids and us but still had a really good feel. Although it is expensive i think it was worth the money.

On the way down yes..... on the way back up perhaps 25?
Holywell Bay has a huge water slide and pool for the kids and is just down the road from Trevornick. While it has been 3 years since we were there, I personally think it is better than Trevornick which was too big and expensive for us although if you want a complete package site then Trevornick will fit the bill.
