we have a compass rallye 490L and love it - only problem is where we live, a narrow road, 1:4 incline - it has a motor mover on, and does get up the road, but my missus gets so stressed out with me blocking the road for 20mins, she has said either put that van on a site or get rid of it!!

and she means it.  I dont really want to put it in a storage compound, but thought about a seasonal pitch.  we really like ladram bay but they want best part of £3000 per year and there is a watiing list till well into 2011!.

does anyone know of a nice site, for as seasonal pitch with some facilities like shop, and local facilites, in the south west or isle of wight?

thanks

John

Hi there!

We spent a lot of time about 18 months ago looking for seasonal pitch in Dorset/Devon area. 2 that we liked the look of where

Manor Farm near Seaton http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1403

Norden Farm near Corfe Castle http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3548

Not sure if either will still have vacancies. However, the best way is just to go and have a drive round and speak to people in person - from my experience much better than calling or emailing.

Anyway to cut long story short we have our caravan for season now at Cloud Farm in Exmoor. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5048

This is a great site for us as it is cheap (£500!), amazingly beautiful and you are allowed camp fires. The downsides for many would be that it is not really set up for caravans, very narrow access road, no electric hook up, very few caravans - it is mainly tents, no toilet waste disposal factilities (we have to drive 5 mins to the village toilets). But for us we love it.

Best wishes

warren farm at brean sands do seasonal pitches, very nice site can't reccomend it enough, i think its about £1100 per 6 months, but you can leave it over the winter period for a lesser fee, i checked this last year and there is a waiting list.

Would you not consider storage at all? We have just bought a caravan and will keep it in a compound a few miles away from us.

We're paying just over £200 for the year.

If its not too far south for you have a look at meadow lakes st austell  cornwall (it was Trencreek farm up until this season) We have had a seasonal pitch there for nearly 4 yrs now.

There has been a lot of work through the winter since they took over and will be lovely when finished.

From what I can see there are seasonal spaces this season. I paid approx  £1300 in total this year including winter storage and 15 march to end oct season.

Price also includes free course fishing as long as you have a licence.
