hi, we have a severely disabled child with CP and are looking for a campsite with good showering facilities, it takes 2 to shower her! and a beach that is near enough to carry her to from the campsite in Cornwall/ We have 4 other children (my 2 boys and my husbands3 girls) the other children need a park/field, somewhere to play football, and we are going to buy a really big outwell tent to fit us all in one tent!!! we have 6 tents between us but are buying a one fits all!
Any ideas? We're going at half term, to practise for the big trip to france this summer!
not much to ask for but i've spent hours looking!!!
thanks :)

gwithian has a family shower room, close to a great beach, or 5 minute drive to a NT carpark with steps down to the same.......not sure about the football field, the pitches are 10 by 10 I think..

Polmanter has excellent facilities for disabled. Huge "wetroom" type showers, ramps etc. Beautiful site with many amenieties for the other kids too.

Beach, you'd have to drive into St Ives, but only 2 mins away

thanks!, it's taken me while to work out how to find my answers! will look at these. I think my partner has to compromise because finding everything in one go is going to be impossible. We can't manage anything with steps to a beach because she's getting too heavy to carry far!

Polmanter and Little Treverrack are both lovely sites, but parking in St Ives may be somewhat hit and miss and might require a fair walk to the beach after parking the car.  This may not be a stress free experience.  It is fairly diffcult to find somewhere where the site is 'virtually on the beach', and that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

One thought is somewhere like Chy Carne, on the Lizard.  I have never been to the site but folk always speak highly of it.  The beach is fairly close (Kennack Sands), down a steep narrow road, but the car park at the bottom has easy access to the beach and we have always been able to park.  At busy times they use a field to the side.  There are toilets, but I don't know if there is a disabled loo.  You can also get 'fast food' and a hot/soft drink/ ice creams down there.

The trouble is that these places get booked up very quickly.

I've just had another thought.  Not a site I've ever used, but take a look at Pentowen. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2595  It has direct access to the beach.  On the website it says it is closer to the beach than any other site in the UK or words to that effect.  I haven't looked at the cost, but I wouldn't mind betting it's not cheap... but if it fits the bill......

I have just seen that DSB has already mention it, what about Pentewan Sands this campsite is directly on the beach, you can even (if you are luck enough to - think they get booked up months in advance) get a pitch that opens out on to the beach. Have never stayed there myself, but have often thought about it, but never go round to it. I am sure they will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Good luck with the search.

We like Chy Carne went there last year and are going back this summer (UKCS meet South West Meet). The campsite is lovely and the owners and staff are lovely and very helpful. There is a larger shower room (divided into 2 parts (shower and changing) in the ladies (not sure if there is the same in the gents or not), this could easily fit a couple of adults and child in, but it is in the ladies so I is not unisex. The beach at Kennack Sands is lovely, the walk from the field parking is not too far and I am sure if you spoke to someone there they maybe able to let you park as close as possible to the exit. Again if you are interested in Chy Carne, I would suggest ringing Sue or Brian the campsite owners and discussing your needs with them.
