I know it's been done to death but please, please can someone help. I have spent soooo long going through the reviews that my head is spinning. I would really love if someone could recommend a site.
We are a family of two adults, a 13 year old boy and two dogs. We would love a site that we could walk to a nearby village/town so my OH can just park up for the weekend. Good walks starting from, or quite near, the site. We don't need clubs or anything, just a clean toilet/shower block, perhaps a small shop (although not a must). A nice quiet site but one that's quiet for 10:30 is perhaps a little too strict for us. (I'd feel like I was 12 again lol)
The other thing is that we are going on Friday 30th April (hahaha) - yes, I know I'm leaving it a bit late to book, but here's hoping. Your help would be very much appreciated.

We stayed here a couple of years ago, but realy enjoyed the fact that we drove there and then didnt really use the car much until we left. The town is 5 mins away (if that), there are lovely walks from the site. Not sure on availablity but it would definately be worth trying.
I would have said Castlerigg hall. We just spent 6 days there and never used the car once. It is a 20 minute walk into Keswick ( uphill on the way back) It is the best site we have ever stayed on. I don't know if a dandy is a tent or a caravan but they don't take bookings for tents you just turn up so its a case of get there early!. If it is a caravan you definately won't get a pitch there. We struggled for a week at the end of September.
We are going to Park Cliffe - I don't know what availability they would have now but although the nearest town is bowness apparently 4 miles away there is a walk you could incorporate to take you there. As for the 10.30 rule - I think most campsites say this nowadays, I haven't been on a campsite whose quiet policy has been later than 11 in this country - I think its generally sites with entertainment which let the noise go on longer. Thats not to say you can't sit outside your tent having a quiet drink & chat - its just a noise thing.

We go to park foot next to ullswater lake. Next to a lovely village called pooley bridge and the site is excellent everything you could want. chippy, shop restuarant that also do breakfasts. Pub with entainment for children. 2 play parks and just one toilet block has 15 toilets and 15 showers and there are i think 3 lots. What can i say i love it we were there only this weekend.
also at Pooley Bridge is Waterside House Farm which is on the lake at Ullswater. It is in our opinion the best site in that area. You can camp by the waters edge if you want to.
Hi, Not a c& cc site but Scotgate in Braithwaite is excellent, short 25min walk into Keswick, tiolet block has to be one of the best i have seen, great value. Give it ago

Thanks again to everyone who put forward their favourite campsite in the Lake District. I am happy, delighted and over the moon to say that we managed to book a pitch at Castlerigg Hall...........can't wait
