We are booked to go to Skirlington Leisure Park , Whit week. Before booking we did all the sensible things like checking reviews, google earth etc. However two new reviews have been posted and they aint good. Now i can understand that it may just be start of season teething problems and go ahead and hope for the best or its not to late for us to quickly cancel and hope to book elsewhere.
Has anyone else been there recently or in the past and can assure us that this isnt the norm. Its such a dilema, what would you do?

OHHHH NOOOOOO, another nail in the coffin, could you give some more info please Carloine and maybe suggest some other sites that you would go to without payment needed!,lol

We had almost decided to go ahead, especially as i rang first thing this morning and they were very honest and said yes they had had electric problems caused to an overload on supply caused by people using halogen heaters....still undecided and need some knowledgeable advice please.

Hi s+gknight I was one of the poster can I add that my post has lots cut out by the admin.

We went for Easter weekend that campsite was packed the staff sited us 2 foot away from a water point as as we were with in inlaws they had no double pitches so we couldnt move - the power was tripping this was due to the fact the campsite was full and most pitches full so the power supply couldnt cope - we spent most of the weekend putting the power back on till it got too hot and stopped completely. We were then off for hours whilst they tried to fix it!

The pitches are not marked out on the grass we had a family from hell next to us who used our caravan and awning as a goal post when they were asked to stop this by us 3 times nicely and finally security and move to the ball park the kids put the football in and got out a rugby ball - the parent just let the kids run riot and just shrugged there shoulders when you looked at them or said anything and let the kids carry on (we have 2 teenager and a 6 year old. We wanted rain just so that they couldnt play outside they stood watching us eat right up next to the caravan. When they got back from the club in the small hours they ran round the caravans shouting and banging on them, It depends who is next to you.

We have also on other stays on the grass pitches have found dog poo round the cars, vans and awnings. Just the luck of the draw where you are sited and who turns up next to you.

We are booked to go back Aug bank hols - if you are on the grass and its not busy you will be ok - we try and get onto a hardstanding as we never have these problems whilst staying on there, each pitch has own water waste and power and next pitch is seperated. We use it as its only an hour away so ideal for quick weekends - the market and car boot sale are good and the chippy on far grange excellent, short walk to beach with dogs although it is steep to get down to. what pitch are you one as I can then tell you where about you are.

It's a tricky one as the last two reviews are not so good, however, ones before that dont seem so bad.

Any site can have problems with the electric, and this does seem to me the main complaint of the last two reviewers.

If I had paid a deposit, on looking at the website and reviews, if I had booked and paid a deposit, i would prob give it ago.

I would go but try for a hardstanding if poss - otherwise if you are on the grass opt for the edge or the row with a hedge the second row up near the toilet block with abcd on them you are jammed in like pilchards

To be perfectly fair to them I couldn't give you an unbiased opinion as we have not actually stayed there. I am sure there are other people on here that have and have loved it. There are lots and lots of statics on the site and that is what they primarily are a huge statc site and personally it is not my idea of a touring campsite. If you have children and want all the amenities then they have those. We are a couple on our own so would not want those things we basically like a corner of a field with preferably a view and a loo and shower and electric and thats it.

Hi mana

our pitch on the confirmation print out says SPC10T, we did reserve a serviced hardstanding pitch and looking at the map it backs up to a hedge opposite a toilet and laundry block!! hope my vague description is enought for you to be able to work out where i mean.

We have pretty much decided to go ahead, we fear its too late to change, as any other good campsite is sure to be booked up and if not why??? Im sure we will have a good time whatever as after all a holiday is what you make it and any time in our second home is always a pleasure

Hi thats on the hardstanding pitches at the top end of the site - you turn left just after the arcade with the shop and chippy. You will be fine up there you are nowhere near the grass pitches you have your own leccy water and waste (we are on 8 for aug bank hol.
The toilet block is older but ok you are near to the swimming pool and bars - Sunday roast is good value but queue can be long but worth it. Market and car boot not far away - car boot is massive and worth a wander.

If you fancy chips walk down on the road to the bottom end past the grass pitches and there is a gate to far grange the chippy is better there and also has its own shop.

As your on hardstanding you will have a good stay - we always have done.
