how much realistically should I expect to pay to camp during the school summer holidays in terms of site fees?
I know it'll depend on my setup but just roughly speaking.
I know I'll have to pay prob a bit more for my 4 children and possibly a utility tent/tarp (depending what I've chosen by then), and my tent's a fairly biggun, but not as big as some I've seen.
Ideally somewhere fairly southernly and somewhere not too far from a beach (car distance is fine), but basic shower/toilet block is all that's needed, though playground would be nice (or a quiet site that the kids can run around but that aint likely in the summer).

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Their nightly rate is for tent, car & up to 6 people so easy to work out the cost. Good facilities, play area (which was very good), swimming pool. You can walk through the village to the beach.
Could I suggest investment in a portable toilet (possibly with its own tent) and membership of the Camping and Caravanning Club, which would give you the choice of numerous cheap, basic, small Certificated Sites, as well as Temporary Holiday Sites, many of which are open during school holiday times and may not need prebooking.
This site in Cornwall which I am thinking of booking this summer would only cost you £16 per night and the reviews seem very good. The larger more commercial sites will of course be much more expensive but there are plenty of smaller sites that are in my opinion just as good

thanks for the replies. I used to be a C&CC member but let it go a few years ago as I never used their sites, and was getting fed up getting magazines reviewing caravans over and over. But I was thinking of getting a toilet, so yes maybe that's the way to go.
Highdigi, that site's in Cornwall not Devon - is that the one you meant to link to? But it still looks good :)

LOL I'd rather go to Devon personally. It's closer! No toilet stops necessary from my house which is practically ON the M5. I've seen too often what the roads round these parts can do in the summer.... urgh!

Hi, we have been to Grange Farm on the Isle of Wight for the last 3 summers... costing is simple and shown on their website (can't remember off the top of my head). It's right on the beach (down a cliff path) has excellent washing/showers facilities, animals, play area and best of all, there's no problems if you have a HUGE tent as ours it ( 16 berth in a cross shape!).
Ferry tickets can be got using Tescos vouchers.
x Debby
PS I must stop recommending it or there won't be space for me!
