Only just found out we can fit a trip in Whit week, and hoping to get a new tent so need to try it out. Don't do the bank holiday weekend so would like to go Tuesday to Sunday but having a job finding anywhere. Only stipulations, clean facilities, dogs welcome, not fussed about pub, shop, etc, but would need to be within 1 - 1.5 hours of Hull.
Cheers

There is a great site only 70 miles from Hull which I have stayed at many times called Spiers House. You can check availablity and book online and there is a discount for C&CC memembers. There are more pictures on my blog

Hi Tracey
Urgh, Spiers House, sorry but I found it overated and pricey (only my opinion mind, as there are lots of good reviews, but it was a sloping 'festival' field, packed and everyone was dodging midges come sun down, cos its in Cropton forest, EHU was on gravel terraces)
How about Saxdale House at Hunmanby, small site but clean facilities, let the dogs off in the grass tracking field across the road, only about 1.5 mile away from Hunmanby Gap which is a fabulous stretch of Filey beach, empty for miles.
We have just got back from Westfield Lodge, Hutton Le Hole, bit further away from you I'm afraid, but lovely big field. There were a lot of very well behaved dogs on site and there is a good walk on the farm, the toilets/showers were immaculate and you are spitting distance from the moors. You could always drive up to Blakely ridge for lunch at The Lion Inn who welcome dogs, then go for a long walk on the moors.
If I think of anywhere else dog friendly I'll post again.
Best wishes Sam

Try Akebar Park near Leyburn. Super site with plenty of space for kids to play, pub/restaurant, golf course, fishing and more. Not cheap and they don't allow reviews (they don't need them as the place fills up regardless) but it really is a lovely place right in the heart of the Dales with plenty of markets near by.

The not allowing of reviews has put me off Akebar in the past.

I think it may be better to make your own mind up instead of relying on other peoples preferences. When we bought a touring caravan instead of our tent it is the only site we wanted to use as a seasonal pitch. This last bank holiday the place was almost full and it is a really big place, and that is all sorts, tents, t.t's, caravans and r.v's, so not everyone can be wrong.
Yes, the toilets/showers struggle at peak times i.e. bank holidays, but you say you wouldn't come then anyway so give it the benefit of the doubt.

We found High Yedmandale to be a good site and I think near enough to Hull. Dogs welcome and on the edge of the forest.

Still not having much luck, have used the contact forms on the campsite search for a couple but still waiting for replies.
Would usually have booked something earlier but wasn't sure what the situation would be with my husband's job so had to leave it a bit late. We can't travel too far as my daughter has to come home for work at the weekend, and she usually comes back by train.

I wouldn't use the contact emai form as you very rarely get a reply.
Best thing is to phone the sites as they will be busy running the sites and not have time to scan and reply to emails
Saxdale house nr Hunmanby is a really nice site (Librasam linked to it earlier)
We really enjoyed it there and it near enough but far enough away (iyswim) from lots of places

I'm afraid I forgot to charge up the batteries on the camera and only got a couple of shots whilst at Westfield Lodge, but heres one looking out across the camping field towards the moors above Hutton le Hole.

Thanks very much Librasam, I'm waiting to hear back from Saxdale House, if I don't hear I'll give them a ring later, it does look lovely but I'm not daring to build up my hopes too much!!
