This is the first season we have been members with C&CC - we have a tent and have noticed most of the Temp sites are own san ess.  We do have a portaloo but thats it.  With 2 little ones we don't think we would manage that well!

We have seen a site at Kettlewell that does not say own san ess - is it safe to assume they have facilities or is it more likely they have just missed it off?

Thanks in advance

It doesn't appear to be adjacent to a listed commercial site (in which case I'd have said don't worry!) so it might be advisable to check with the organisers on the number given in the THS listing.

We have tent camped on a THS for a week with 3 kids age 3 to 9.  We bathed the kids in a tub-trug, it doesn't take that much hot water to warm it up enough, what with water displacement taken into account.

Thanks for the suggestions - I am particularly loving the £15 shower pump that you put in a bucket of warm water - ingenious!!

Might have to be brave and give it a try!!

There seem to be a number of THS's with facilities close by.

I can recommend the submersible pump in a bucket type shower - I would recommend the use of a swimming costume if you don't have a shower tent though

Yes the submersible works well.

Other items that work with all the systems

Paddling pool......good shower tray.    The pound-land toddler only 3ft wide just fits in a toilet tent

and a toilet tent or utility tent for the shower to keep your Vango dry

We've been lucky to book two THS in the South, both with full facilities. However, we're gearing ourselves up to trying a few local meets with own san ess. We've got a toilet tent with portapotti, & a submersible shower but I think for a weekend we'll manage with a quick strip wash in our camper.  After 2 years as members I'm keen to get started & join in!
