Just serves to reassure me that I am right in insisting we stick to my stove top kettle. OH wants an electric kettle but I'm digging my heels in. My aim is to be able to go completely without EHU. I'm working on him

Ive just read the article. To me it sounds that the site is for caravans and statics. They said that people had to use just one electrical item at a time, eventually the electrics went all together. Surely caravaners and statics use gas as well?
If so, whats the problem.

I did'nt realize there was readers comments. someone said. It's become a popular site, generally booked up. It was exceptionally cold, which meant people were drawing more electricity. Some people in tents didnt have proper camping hookups, allows them to draw more power.
This happened the weekend we had intended going to that site but decided to go elsewhere. I'm glad we did and not for the powercut but for the campers going on about it. It wouldn't have bothered us as we always have backup anyway. They had problems there last year on and off too but that weekend was almost on freezing so I'm guessing a lot of them had heaters running which wouldn't have helped.
