Hi there

We are looking for a suitable campsite around the Buxton area (will go anywhere but had to decide on a place to focus on) - for the next Bank holiday (fri and sat night)

We are 2 adults, 1 doggie and 1 car. Not bothered about much as long as clean, quietish and has a shower block and accepts Dogs.

A bar would be nice, but having the Dog means that maybe doubtful.

Thanks for any advice !

Hi, here are all the sites within 5 miles from Buxton. From there you can then specify your requirements and all the suitable sites will be shown. Plenty of reviews to read from there too.

We have stayed at the Duke of York, Pomeroy a couple of times (just got back after this weekend) which is about 5 miles out of Buxton. The only downside for campers is that there is only 1 toilet each and 1 shower (£1 for about 3 mins) which is situated in an brick outhouse, if you dont mind basic then you will be fine but if you like nice heated facilities then this wont do.

The pub itself has a great atmosphere with an open fire and the staff can't do enough for you. The food is really nice at a reasonable price and theres loads of walking from the site itself.

hi everyone, thank you soooo much for everyones ideas, ratty we managed to narrow our search, and found Wallbrook caravan and campsite, thanks to you

we passed the duke of york at pomeroy which looked fab but very full (we have been away this may bank hols)

Wallbrook is a lovely place £4 per adult and has showers and toilet block which were so clean - 50p for showers.

5 caravan pitches. the rest of the area is for tents but they are keen to keep the tents round the edge of the land so it is free for kiddies etc, which it was.

if you want mobiles to work, etc - no no ! this was fab though - totally away from it all !!

9/10 -  all is needed eggs and milk etc for sale as i drove into hulme end to get some - my fault for forgetting them x
