Hi Guy's,

Looking for a camp site that can accomodate a tent this coming Sunday!

We are looking for North East, North Yorkshire, Lake District area.

As long as showers are hot and allow bbq's we aren't too fussy.

Any ideas?

Johnny

I have had to cancel my pitch at Lincolnshire Lanes, which they have kindly let me move to another date, so there is one free there. Lincs lanes is 10 miles north of lincoln, quiet farm site.

Sounds like a lot of sites wont take one night bookings on Bank Holidays most are a minimum 3 nights. Think you might struggle for 1 night especially Sunday.

HI
I can't seem to see the availability calendar anywhere am I being stupid?

I got booked in for next weekend ages ago, but hadn't banked on getting itchy feet for this weekend as well - does anyone happen to know of anywhere pickering way? (sat and sun)

Could someone also tell me how likely cancallations are - is it as possible as getting all ready and phoning round a few places as late as sat morning - or is it pretty unlikely now?
Thanks very much for any advice!
Rob

If you are a member of the C&CC then you might find a CS to suit - very small sites often only taking a handful of units.  Some of them have showers.  I don't think anyone can really say how likely a cancellation is.  You can only just keep trying.  If the weather looks unsettled then some might cancel - I think there are a decent number of fair-weather campers.

David,

I have seen the CCC crop up a few times now and wondered what the benefits exactly where at joining the club?!

I do not really see what you get for £37 per year...

Sorry!

Cheers

Johnny

Johnny - basically it means reduced site fees.  If you visit a C&CC site as a member you pay less than a non-member and some sites only accept members.  You would need to work out how many visits you would need to make before you could re-coup the £37.  As a member you get access to a network of club sites and 100's of very small sites called CS's that might only take a handful of units.  They are of variable standard so it is useful to read a review on here, if available.  By being a member, you also get a magazine every so often (I think it's monthly), and you have access to the CCC various insurances, including continental cover.  If you stay on a CCC site they will not put a minimum number of nights you have to stay. (Some commercial sites specify a minimum number of nights at busy times, as mentioned above by CarolineM.)

The Caravan Club does basically the same thing, but opens a greater range of sites that you can visit.  The CC has a larger number of club sites - their small privately owned network of sites are called CL's.  As a caravanner, we are a member of both, but the CC does not accept tenters as members (but does accept trailer tenters).  We tend to use CC sites more frequently that C&CC sites.  Our local Caravan/Camping accessory shop gives you 5% off if you present your CC card, but I don't know about C&CC.

I've probably missed things out here, but that will give you some idea.
