We're off to Pencelli (sp?) in the Brecon Beacons next week.

I've not been to the area before - any suggestions for days out/activities? We've got 2 young (6 and 4) kids, so we hope to do a few short walks and the weather is looking ropey (if you can believe the forecasts).

Any suggestions greatly appreciated...

Hi there,
We are going with our 1 and 3 yr old boys, I had a look at the National Park website, and there are quite a lot of easy and short walks, have a look at these links below: (you will need to copy and paste)

We've never been before, but the ones on the 1st link look promising.
Also, there is the Brecon Mountain Railway which the little ones surely will enjoy!

take a trip along the canal, ride bikes on tow path, llangorse lake not too far away, go up to the mountain centre.

its a beautiful area, brecon has a leisure centre, crickhowel is nice on the river you may find a shallow spot to paddle.

drive up past the resevoire ( sorry i cant spell it ) and then take a short walk to the waterfall.

your children are very young so just enjoy the scenery. i think pencelli has a nice play area.

good luck have a great time, its one of my favourite places.

If you go back when the children are older try the climbing centre at Llangorse.  Their activity sessions are brilliant and suitable from 6 years, I think.

What about a pony ride?  You can book a short session, led by an instructor.  There are lots of stables around (including at the Llangorse centre but we haven't done riding there so can't comment on that particular one).

We're at Fforest Fields in the summer so will probably visit that area, my children are older, 13 and 17 so we like visiting places more suited.  We like steam train rides, craft centres, nice parks and gardens that sort of thing, anyone any ideas?
