Hello,

We've been bitten by the camping bug and have decided to spend our summer holiday under canvas !

Looking for a family friendly beach campsite on the south coast - we're thinking maybe Devon or Cornwall but open to suggestions for other areas.

Ideally the site will have beach access, good for tents, family friendly (our children are 11, 14 and 17) with lots for teenage kids to do.  Clubhouse with entertainment would be good too.

thanks for your help

looks like you want a big name site, likes of haven pontins etc, you could try freshwater beach, bit pricey though my mate loves it. porth beach is nice but not much for teenagers to do. lady's mile dawlish, woolacoombe bay. best idea would be to search on here for the things you want on site and what parts of devon or cornwall you like.

Hi

Have just booked a pitch in mid august at 'porth beach touring park' near newquay, cornwall. a few minutes level walk from good beach, it dosen't have club house but good pub close by and close to newwquay.

Haven't been already so can't rate it, but was also looking for camping close to beach without and this site looked good, hope this helps some.

Sorry don't know how to link you to details of site, still learning !

The link below is to a great site which practically has it's own private sandy beach as the only other access (apart from via the site) is by to coastal path. We had a great long weekend there a few years ago and it is very popular with families though has no onsite entertainment. It wasn't a particularly cheap site, but I expect the location is the main attraction here, and the site is a bit 'regimented' but I suppose this keeps it well organised.

Another good one is carnevas, which is a longer walk (or short drive) to some great beaches. We stayed on the camping field which was massive (but no power) so had loads of room for the kids to play. Being on the headland though, this field can get breezy so take a windbreak! http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1503

My kids are a lot younger though, so if you need entertainment you may find it hard to get a pitch somewhere at a holiday park for the summer holidays at this late stage.

The new forest may also be a good idea, as older kids can cycle further afield at least without as much supervision. Hollands Wood is good, but keep your food locked in the car as the horses will come and get it.
