We are going to Townsend near Leominster and was wondering if anyone knows the area well as on Wed 23rd June it would be nice if we could find a pub to see the 3pm kick off? I see the village has a couple of pubs - does anyone have any ideas ; also would be nice to learn of any good place to visit in the area (or indeed shop!).
We got back yesterday after a 3 night stay at Townsend. The on-site shop is fantastic..you can get everything you may need there. They have their own killed meat on sale. There's not much to do locally...cheese making and so forth and that's about it.. We took a trip to Hereford to have a look at the Mapa Mundi. If you wish to shop elsewhere there's a large Morrisons just before you get back into Leominster..There's also a great fish and chip shop just down the road from Morrisons at a very busy junction with the A49 / A44 close to the town centre with an adjacent car park. Leominster's an old fashioned kind of place and have individual bakers and butchers you rarely see these days. The locals seem to be a very odd bunch and I doubt whether they've got more than three different surnames between them.

Ha, you should try Kington, just a few miles away, everybody has got the same surname!
I should know I married one of them
