I am looking at taking the family to Fort Willaim during the summer holidays and was looking at the Glen Nevis Campsite. I t has been about 30 years since I was last there and it was a good site then. I was wondering if the site is as good if not better than it was then, and is it worth booking in advance or just turning up.
hi clan chief ,i was planning to go in july its about a 3 hour drive from me,but it is fully booked .I know a few people who have been and they all have good things to say about it.I am really disapointed i cant go .if u go hope you have a great time.I am now going down to the lakes in july going to visit penrith, lowther holiday park
We went there for our first proper trip (ie without going with cheap naff tent and in-laws we could stay with when cheap tent collapsed) last June - this week last year in fact. We loved it, facilities are great, clean, site shop very well stocked, sensible planning of site, Fort William a five minute drive away if you've forgotten anything, cost very competitive, views fantastic.
Though only a 'veteran' of three campsites so far, it was definitely the best and thoroughly recommended. We did a fuller review here.
This slightly concerns me that the site is fully booked in July.
I am planing my stay 30th June to 4th July. When I spoke to them at the beginning of the year they told me to "just turn up as there is always space", but now I'm not so sure.
I don't know whether to book it now, and suffer the £10 this will cost for peace of mind.

its a long drive to be turned away audsley, better being safe than sorry
I have been at glennevis site with 3 times twice with my caravan and once with a tent. Really clean site good for kids and the scenery..... they could charge you a fortune for the views, its a stunning area. Toilets and showers very clean, shop well stocked, staff very friendly and helpful.
I've finally got in touch with them today (Friday only got the answer machine).
I've booked 30th June to 4th July for peace of mind (even though I think £10 is a bit cheek for simply updating a computerised booking system), but the lady told me I would be OK simply just arriving - not chancing it.
Can't wait for this one, especially the summit attempt, which I am getting nervous about as failure is not an option
We have used this site several times in both caravan and tent and always enjoyed our stay. They are famous for telling you to turn up saying there is always space. Its there way of trying to keep it full. In peak season you will always see a queue at the entrance and not everyone gets a space. If you really want to go here I would book in advance no matter what they say..its not there holiday that could be spoiled....
