We're looking for a nice quiet site, possibly on the Lleyn Peninsular. Don't need lots of facilities just good clean toilets/showers. We have a large tent, Hartford XL, so would need to be able to accommodate this. Would be nice to be by a beach but not to fussed. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.

I can recommend the Lleyn! It's a lovely place, our kids (4 and 7) think it's fantastic. There are excellent beaches to be found from Porthmadog to Aberdaron at the far west end, with camp sites all over the place. As there are so many I would use the reviews and links on this site to come up with a short list and then ask if anyone has anything else to say about your chosen few. It is a very family oriented area, but without any big man-made "attractions", ie., theme parks, fun fairs and wot not. Rather old fashioned in a way.
If your kids get tired of the beach (and you don't mind 30,40 minute drive), check out Greenwood Forest Park, near Caernavon.

Re: Aberdaron - well, I don't think you'll find it's changed much! Still no KFC, no Pizza Hut, no CineWorld. Not even a Centre Parcs ! It really has that "end of the world" feel to it (and only a few miles from the bustling metropolis that is Abersoch!)
Conwy Tourist Park may be an option for you, there are some wonderful beeches just north of the Conwy estury with miles of clean white sand, just follow the signs for the marina off the A55, then turn left at the junction near the static caravan park and the carpark and beech access is about 200yds past their entrance.
One word of warning though, the carpark has a height bar which is quite low to stop anything higher than a standard people carrier get under, I very much doubt you would get some of the larger 4x4s under it, but that may have been done delibratlely to keep them off the beach!

The old barrier used to hang down in the middle and our discovery would just fit under. They have now fitted a new barrier and it is straight and we pass under ok.
Thanks for that Brian, its not really a problem with our car, but its nice to know incase we ever bought something a little larger in the future, although i bet its still not heigh enough to get a motorhome through it, If memory serves me right then the old one that sagged was only set at 6ft 6ins.
We are heading your way mid July and will be staying on one of the CLs near the Trefiw Woollen Mill, and enjoying a few treats from that fine bucher in Conwy who serves up the Hot Roast Meat baps at lunchtime, Yummy!

I think it is deliberately pitched at that height to stop caravans and motorhomes. The new one is at that height and the old one was supposed to be before it sagged. Edwards is a good butchers and his sausages seem to be popular. We are travelling down to sunny Devon mid july. We were at Losehill, castleton at whit weekend and had a great time.
