We've been camping with the kids over the last couple of summers and I have been disappointed so far at how hemmed in everyone is. We've tried to pick quieter campsites but have always suffered tents piled on top of each other and every available space used.

Has anyone got any suggestions for a campsite that gives a good size pitch and a little space to roam in between?

Also a site called Court Farm near St Austell..they were flipping enormous!!!

We are just back from Little Trevarrack (St Ives) - this is now the best campsite we have ever been to!  I will leave a review & I will shortly be putting a few piccies up in the camping under canvas forum shortly (when I work out how!!!!). Our pitch (no.99 Cadgwith) was huge - we had our own walled garden, we were central between two toilet blocks & close to the pool & play area too.  Shower blocks were outstanding!!

You can view and select your pitch online - we had poor weather and couldn't make use of all the facilities nor the sooo beautiful beach apart from once but we would definitely go back there!

I agree Fiona.  The pitches are large and you can view on line.  I don't know why but the site just felt a little lacking in atmosphere, to me.  We booked quite late and there was still a little room.

I think it depends on what you want really.  It was really quiet last week and the site seemed to have carefully spaced out the use of pitches so that there was loads of space between units.  We were so busy going about our business that we didn't really pay attention to what was going on around us but loved the laid back relaxed feel of the site.  I suppose that as the site doesn't have its own shop/restaurant or entertainment (although you can easily walk to all these things) there isn't anything to bring campers together but this didn't really bother us.  Just a shame the weather wasn't on our side as I imagine this is when the site would really come into its own.

we have a Diablo 900XP and have booked into Newperran (nr Perranporth) for this August - very helpful and you can view the pitches using the Google Earth link on the site - the pitch we have looks massive and hedged at the rear ..... will report back when we have been !!!!

We also can recommend Little Trevarrack. Went last year and are going again this August. To be fair you may struggle getting in for this summer but worth giving a ring to check.

We have been to little Trevarrack 3 times in recent years and yes the pitches are huge and some are hedged, we enjoyed the park and thought it was well situated to enjoy St Ives etc.

However if you want to spend more time on the south coast of Cornwall Tregarton also has very big pitches and is an excellent site, although quite remote and you need a car eveytime you leave the site.
