May I enquire if those charges are for peak period in the summer during school holidays?
If yes, then I am not surprised.
Try finding a B&B at somewhere decent for 31 GBP per night for 2 adults and 3 kids during August!

Being even more precise, the place I looked at was a blank canvas as such, i.e. no clubhouse, no play park, just my usual basic grass field kind of place and these prices were for all year round
If it is the school holidays then they can and will get away with charging it as they know that parents have no other options. As said already taking kids away in the school holidays is expensive full stop even before you have taken them out for the day.
I'm not nieve and would love to not pay those prices but it all comes down to timing and the sites know that they can fill up the pitches in the school holidays no matter what and the schools now make it increasing harder to take children out of school in term time. 2 years ago I took mine to america in May and 1 of the weeks was term time, it took me a month to get approval from the school.

Sorry, but we alway's go camping within the school holiday's and bank holiday's and the max I have ever been charged is £20pn, so people can choose to not be ripped off if they want to.

But its not a B&B Its a patch of grass in a field with no electric .
It has other facilities such as toilets and shower blocks, water etc. etc., that cost money to provide and maintain, no?
However, based on the description of the facilities by the OP, it does sound rather expansive!

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Thats good, but it does seem to be going up more this year as more families are not able to go abroad. Mine for the first week in August is £34pn for 2 adults,3 kids and ehu. Yes it too steep but it's near where the boys want to go, Also the site seems very good and has things for them all to do at ages 5,12,14. Compared to a hotel it's still a cheap holiday and a lot more fun and thats all that counts in the end.

That does seem a little on the expensive side but at the end of the day I think it comes down to what you view as value for money, you pays your money and takes your choice. Some sites are worth a little bit extra, service with a smile, fantastic scenery etc but personally I like to pay as little as possible.
For those that normally pay to go overseas I suppose it might seem cheap, the sooner the economy picks up and they all bugger off back to whatever lager soaked beach they crawled off the better. Not tarring everybody with the same brush but the rowdier, inconsiderate campers do seem to be on the increase. The ones who keep you up untill 5 am and think its funny to drive around the camp site like Richard Hammond and 'forget' to put their rubbish in the bin or clean up after their dogs..Pheww- rant over...breathe...and relax!!!
Well, I think we all have to work together to recommend nice sites which are good value for money and refuse to pay over the odds. I finally booked a site for August which sounds really nice, Nicholson farm in Leominster. Small, fairly basic on a working farm. It does have a playground though and all the reviews sounded great - the kids get to help a bit if they want to. For the 4 of us with a tent and no EHU £12 per night.
I was amazed at how much the sites had gone up last year. Price is no guarantee of quality anyway. I don't mind paying a bit more for sites right next to a beach. We had a great one in N Wales which would be £28 per night for us now. But at least you aren't having to drive to a beach, try to find parking and then pay a fortune for it. However, husband now refuses to camp near a beach owing to many gale force wind incidents.
Toally agree with you about the growth in numbers of inconsiderate campers. It amazes me how many of the ones that stay up late being very loud have young children!
Campsites in France and Italy that we are looking at are varying between 50 and 70 Euros a night! We do like 4* sites with indoor and outdoor pools, flumes, footie pitches, mini golf, kids clubs and entertainment etc. though and some of the more expensive ones are near Rome and Venice so very touristy areas. I so not surprised they are dearer than a field in England though as I've not found many UK campsites which can compare on quality or range of facilties.
What I love about these "how much" threads, is there is never a link to the campsites so you can't see the location or the facilities offered. So nobody else can say whether it's expensive or cheap.
There are plenty of cheap sites around, we pay £5 a night on C&CC sites, no facilities but cheap.
