we are thinking of using Minnows as an overnight stop on our way to cornwall.

I have heard that there is a lot of traffic noise .Has any one stayed on this site

The alternative is CC site Cadeside ,once again has anyone stayed here ??.

We are only looking for a quiet site near the M5 .

Minnows is anything but quiet, it overlooks a busy roundabout on the feeder road for the motorway amd the motorway and the train line drone away in the distance. I have never been to Cadeside. Other alternatives would be Exeter racecourse or slightly earlier but a quiet and peaceful haven of Hurn Lane at Burnham on sea.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Have a look at Gamlins Farm (it's on the site search).   It's very easy to get to off the M5 Junc 26, and about a mile off what used to be the A38 that runs parallel to the M5, so is ideal.   A very quiet site with lovely views of the Quantock hills. Very reasonably priced and spotless facilities.

A bit further north is Hortham Farm CL near Almondsbury, near the M4/M5 interchange, good price but no loos or showers if they are important.

Minnows & Cadeside are both ideal for stop overs.  Minnows is easy access off the M5 junction 27 and the site does border onto a dual carriage way but is well screened by trees, you wont see the traffic but you will hear it.  The site has direct access onto the Grand Western Canal - so ideal if you have a dog, or children/bikes as you can make your way into the village of Sampford Peverell - nice pub called The Globe.

There's also a farm shop and golf driving range in the village.

Gamlins Farm will be quieter as it's a lot deeper into the countryside.

Any questions please ask as I live about 10 minutes from Minnows.

Am I thinking about the same Minnows site? The one just off the M5 a few miles north of Exeter?

We've stayed there on numerous occasions and never noticed any excessive noise and I must say that neither of us are particularly heavy sleepers.

It is only a hop, skip and jump from the M5 but hey, isn't that what you want en route to Cornwall?

We wouldn't consider anywhere else if we were in your position.

Mind you that said, if we travel to the West Country via the M3 and A303 another very excellent overnight stop is Putts Corner CC site just outside Honiton. Now if it's quiet you want then this is the epitome. It's more of a detour off the M5 but it's worth it. There's a lovely pub called The Hare and Hounds just a short walk from the site. It has a fab carvery restuarant - just the job after a long drive from Cheshire!
