We've just started touring so trying to make the most of our van by going for weekend trips (never did in the tent as too much hassle). Don't want to spend too long travelling just for the weekend so looking for your recommendations for quiet sites within 1-2 hours of Dundee (Perthshire? East Neuk of Fife?). Looking on the web lots of sites seem really big and you have to pay for lots of facilities - nice if that's what you like, but not our cup of tea!
We like to be near water/woodland and are happy with just the basics (water, waste disposal, loo, ?shower) - but I do like having a electric hook-up! We have an 8 year old and a dog who'd have to be allowed too!
Thanks!

I'd thoroughly recommend the site at Glenesk....not the poshest of places, but the best showers for 20p....and set round a wee lochan. Very rustic and quiet, with an amazing glen to go and explore.
There is also a great wee site just north of St Cyrus called Miltonhaven. Set down by the sea.....another of our favorites.
------------- My photos allow you to see what I saw at the time that I took it....No messing.
The Caravan Club have taken over a site at Forfar, also their Balbirnie Park site at Markinch is about to re-open after a re-furb. Heading north Silverbank CC site at Banchory is lovely.

Cairnsmill caravan park, St Andrews 01334 473604. Have been there a few times for weekends. Great club house and indoor swimming pool. Easy walk into St Andrews
