bumping an old thread rather than start new as we have similar interest in South Devon. Except we have 2 young kids, dont want EHU and dont want to pay £30 plus a night
-Dornafield looks fab but is over £30 a night so too much for us
-South Breazle looks fab but a bit off the beaten track
-Bolberry seemed too good to be true, again 2 adults 2 kids is over £30 without EHU !?
-Ross Park is a little dearer than we wanted but deal breaker is no cycling !? that is all our kids (5 and 3) want to do on site
-Harford Bridge almost fits the bill but my wife is worried about the river and our young kids
-Twelve Oaks have portacabin loos - defnitely no fun with kids
-Forest Glade, lovely, but just too far out of South Devon for us
any more suggestions folks?
if Harford is very safe it would probably be top of our list though

Have to say, Breazle may be off the beaten track, but in my experience, the kids absolutely love it. There is a massive field for them to play on, and the added bonus of the fun fountain... It is though, off the beaten track, but that appeals to us...

Harford Bridge have non riverside pitches, so if you ask for a pitch near the children's play area/shower block you are not near the river and there is plenty of green space for the children to run around in. The river pitches are un fenced but the site does not permit swimming or inflatables in the water.
Forest Glade is just up the road from me and to be honest is probably closer to South Devon than Harford Bridge. Harford Bridge is north of Tavistock, so quite a hike for example to somewhere like Torquay (approx 1 hour 15 minutes) Forest Glade is not far from Junction 28 of the M5 (10 minute drive) and then Torquay is 40 minutes down the motorway, Exmouth, Dawlish, Teignmouth would be even closer.
Littleskinks- Twelve Oaks do not have portacabin loos, its a newly built toilet block that is spotless, the is a portacabin behind but only used when the main showers are full, only once in 2 weeks while we were there.

We have had difficulty finding a site near Salcombe in South Devon at short notice. We would have preferred a Caravan Club CL, but they are either fully booked or inaccessible for our twin axle. Everwhere else seems to want about £20 per night which we won't pay. We have finally booked Island Lodge near Kingsbridge, £16 per night (which is still too much), and I don't know what it's like, but it's a lovely area. The reasonably priced sites that we used to go to are either now far too expensive or have converted to statics.
Anne
we're going to a caravan club CL site at indian queens st. columb £8 a night adult only though, don't know what it's like, we chose it as it's not far from where my sister lives .
