Whooooooooo, where to start!

First off, and probably most important as if you don't get a good kip you'll not enjoy your camping; get a good mat below you, either a blow up or a good closed cell foam Karrimat.

Keep everythinbg tidy at all times and away from the tent sides if it gets a bit rainy.

A wee brush to keep the floor of the tent tidy, and keep footwear OUTSIDE the tent at all times. Flip flops for everybody is best.

A small lamp to light up the whole tent is far better than headtorches inside the tent at night. Argos used to do a battery standing or hanging light, and remember the spare batteries.

A portaloo is essential unless you enjoy hopping across wet grass in the dark. Cheap to buy almost everywhere; just a pail with a lid really.

Easy cook meals to start off with will be better than the burnt offerings most folks end up with to begin with, and not getting good grub has spolied many a great weekend.

Take along a folding chair each, cheap at ASDA or Tesco, and better than sore knees.

Wine.
