This year we have been very late to book due to problems with work.
We are in Wheathampstead just outside St Albans, Hertfordshire (AL4 8TL) and want to travel 3 to 3.5 hours max to a site by the beach.
Trouble is we have a dog and a big tent (7m X 5) Montana 12. We are going with some friends and are after electric hookup. We are a family with two kids (9 and 11)
We have looked for a long while now, but all the sites seem to be booked up. We were looking for a site with a play area for kids or games room.
Can anyone recommend a nice beach site within 3.5 hours of St Albans that may have spare service pitches?
Any help much appreciated.

Campers do it in the mud!
Hubby says we can't camp as much this yr mmm we'll see!!
camped in 2009= 27nights
Booked for 2010 = 30 nights.
Woolacombe - this group owns 4 parks in the area. there is a bus to take you to the beach if you dont want to use the car, also it travels between each park if you want to use other facilties. There are swimming pools on each park and clubs with entertainment. Have stayed at 2 of their parks both we stayed at took all sizes of tents, and allowed dogs in certain fields.

Newquay and Woolacombe are both a bit more than 3.5 hours away from St. Albans. Can't help as we don't like the east coast which would seem to be area you are aiming for.
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks very much for all your help. We have found oneby Bourenmouth,a bit further than we wanted to go,but needs must. Can't wait now.
