We went to Sandy balls when we had our tent about 4 years ago and used the matting.
It's kind of like the sort of material you get on a backpackers rollmat but a bit more flexible and obviously in bigger sheets. We had a huge dome tent (Royal Montpellier 12) so not that different to yours size-wise with a SIG. You defintely need something under the living area/bedrooms at least for both comfort and prevention of damage - I'm not sure what your 'footprint' is made of.
Take plenty of rock-pegs, the site shops sells them but they are a tad expensive, better to get them beforehand
