I've booked Tregarton but never been - so that isn't much help for you. I havent looked at Heligan Park so can't comment. Tregarton does look very nice -

We have been to tregarton a couple of times. Excellent location, good facilities, great pasties and very helpful people - nice place. Big pitches.

Don't know t'other one.

Heligan woods is very near Tregarton (you actually pass it by the farm shop) on the way to Tregarton park.  Heligan looks like it's on a steep hill - I've never been there so cannot comment on pitches but it does look slopey from the outside.

Tregarton has a new shower block since we've been there, you can pre book your exact pitch online which is a bonus.  Dog walk is ok - but not huge if you have dogs that need a lot of exercise.

Close to the beach of Caerhays (Porthluney Cove) - fab little national trust beach about a 10 minute drive away (allows dogs) but watch out for the pheasants on the way!

Agree with all you say except I don't believe the beach is National trust

Not that it matters unless you are a member expecting free parking.

Gorran Haven is also very nice - more so than mevagissy in my view (also just a spit away)

If heligan is the field by the farm shop then yes it does slope. Part of Tregarten does too but the large pitches are levelled off.

Thanks for the replies... I agree tregarton does seem the better of the two coz of the steep slope at heligan... only thing that puts me off is there's no where to walk directly from the site, looks like you have to drive everywhere and we like to have a stroll in the evening sometimes. Well after spending most of the day trying to decide between the two I have changed my mind and have just booked treveague farm which has got 3 beaches within easy walking distance. Hope ive made the right choice. Once again thanks x

My sister in law went to Tregarten recently and loved it.
