Hoping to go away this weekend, first trip after the birth of our baby 5 weeks ago. Dont want to travel too far from home near Leeds and looking for recommendations for child-friendly sites (we have a 3 year old) in Yorkshire, Derbyshire areas.

We spent the weekend at Blackwall Plantation Caravan Club site near Ashbourne. The site is very child friendly, there is a play area for toddlers as well as one for older kids. It is close to Carsington Water, which has walks and a few little shops as well as lots of space for the little ones to run around and tire themselves out! Hope that you find somewhere and go on well with your children.

i am also from leeds and if you are willing to travel arouind 1 hour i cant highly recommend enough vale of pickering to you we have just been there and will be returning soon my kids love it my kids are 5 and 8 hope this is of some use to you

We have a 3 year old and a 1 year old.

We like Knockerdown Farm, also near Ashbourne and Carsington Water. There's animals, a playground and lovely family friendly pub. No showers though.

Let us know where you're going, it'd be nice to meet someone with kids of a similar age to ours.

We have a 12 year old with a physical disability who is 12 and a 4 year old daughter.
We like Golden Valley near ripley. it has two play areas one at the top of the site and a bigger fort at the bottom near the reception area, toilet block and bar. There is also a toilet block at the top of the site together with portaloos dotted around. There is also a tractor train ride around the site.

Thanks all for the recommendations, we ended up on a site near Ripon and had a great time.

Will keep other ideas on stand by for another time.

Tara - the idea of 'no showers' would make my 3 year old very happy!
