Hi there,

I am hoping someone can recommend somewhere for me! We are looking to go to the lakes with the tent for one night in early August for our 9 year anniversary.

We are after a site with reasonable facilities (really all we ask is clean and useable showers and loos) that is somewhere near to a pub that does decent pub food. Wish to spend the evening hjaving a meal and sampling some local ales and the days walking.

We were looking at burns farm near keswick but they are full already!

Any suggestions gratefuly received. Keswick way would be nice or I will need to re think the planned walks but if the site/pub is right thats not the end of the world!

Thanks all!

Mike

Thanks for the suggestions! Is there somewhere near the castlerigg hall site you woul recommend for food? The boot inn in eskdale seems to get very good reviews!

Also, we are now also considering the yorkshire dales and maybe even north wales!

Sooo the only criteria is good loos and a good pub! Keep the suggestions coming in pleeeease!

Cheers,

Mike

The CCC site at Keswick (Derwentwater) is on the shore of the lake and a short walk to town which has plenty of pubs / restaurants.

Waterside house farm at Pooley bridge, Ullswater

Fab, great site, stunning location and 3 pubs in the village. Personally I recommend the Sun inn for ale (jennings) and pooley bridge hotel for food.It used to be rubbish but new landlord has turned it around and the food is spot on.

Would absolutely recommend this site, it is in the most beautiful surroundings, spotless facilities and walks straight from the site to suit all levels of fitness.  Three inns/pubs within walking distance all serving good food.  After visiting the Keswick/Windermere areas for years this part of the lakes was what I had really been hankering for but didn't know it!
