If your passport is up to date there's a couple of smaller sites in Essex that fit your requirements.
Riverside Holiday Park - Wallasea Island (you can search for that on here) is great, pub is a walk along the sea wall, toilets clean and tidy and not much else (except a fishing lake).
Waterside Holiday Park - St Lawrence Bay. It's owned by park resorts, but so not like their other sites it's refreshing. Again, there's a couple of pubs within walking distance and it's really quite quiet and peaceful.
