Many woods including those of The Woodland Trust will not allow any form of fire because of fire risk to flora and fauna. If you want to do as you suggest then permission would be needed, and quite likely refused for reasons above.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
If it is not the woodland trust then it will still belong to someone and you won't have permission. It will be trespassing. If it is owned by a public body the makes it open to the public they will have rules saying you can't do it.
Hi, I think you are on a stickey wicket there. Sugest you buy Ordanance Survey map Explorer series map no. 137 would cover Pluckley. These quite clearly show the areas in/on which the public have the "Right to Roam". This does not of course mean that you can do as you like as most areas, particularly in the south east are in private ownership and for the most part the R to R means just that and covers walking hiking etc. Some areas are more relaxed and allow other pursuits but I would think that the Woodland Trust would give a big no no to the lighting of fires. You would probably get away with a weekends camping if you used a camping stove but smoke coming from a wooded area will atract all the local busy bodies for miles around and I'm sure the local bobby wouldn't be long in moving you on. Good luck............Mick
Scotland is more accommodating with regard to "wild" camping. There are rules governing this- not to camp within so many yards of a highway, etc, but they are far more in tune with wild campers.
