On our return trip from Norfolk we stayed at the above site for three nights. It is situated in a small village about 10 miles outside Nottingham. The village of Shelford, the word means "shallow river crossing" has a pub but was not open when we stayed. Access to the site is from the main drag into the village. A small driveway links it to the road. Once in the site, which is in an orchard, Christine the owner will walk you around to show the facilties and if not booked will let you choose your own pitch.

Although the facilities are basic they are clean and very servicable. The showers have a domestic shower unit so plenty of hot water and pressure. Chemical waste and grey waste are serviced in different parts of the site so you need to do two journeys to empty tanks. Not a real problem as the site is small and flat. There are plenty trees, after all its an orchard, and overlooking someone else is not easy. A drying room and a small shop which supplies you with basics such as real ale, milk, ice cream and a few other essencials left at home. Christine, the owner is quite knollegable about the area but there is a small room with leaflets in it for you to pick up and read at your liesure.

Being a village, and there are plenty around there, you will have the oppertunity of using your bike or walking. The river trent is not far away. Shelford is close to the river and there are walks from there to other villages. There are three different caravan accessory places nearby if you need anything.

I would definatly use this site again when down that way, its like a small oasis when you come across it and we did not want to come away but work becons.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Don't shout about it lol. We go there, don't want everyone to know about it.

No really don't know if you know but the beast thing to do is put a review in on the site page, here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5063

As you can see I leave lot's of reviews and this site is one of them but there are a few little gems that are not listed on the search and these I keep under my hat lol.
