No, there's a good selection of smaller independent sites too. The one we were interested in is a fairly new one with a lot of capacity that's trying to grow its reputation so it seems counterproductive that it's not offering better terms to get people in on what must be a fairly quiet time anyway.
Although I don't believe it's the site's fault that the Sun offer is misleading as they have obviously clearly negotiated the terms beforehand.
I'd be interested to hear what 'extras' anyone else has been quoted from sites.

I found that before with other camp site deals (when they did the static caravan holidays). They were advertised as "family holiday" but it really meant if you had under 5s as they were all for term time dates and not for uk school holiday time which stopped our "family" from using it.
I just stick to searching for quiet sites with cheap pitches instead - much nicer.

Complete waste of time collecting the tokens this week.
First 3 sites I called yesterday had a minimum booking of 3 nights (in October??????).
4th site had no minimum night rule but the extras bumped up the price to more than we pay on a nicer site just down the road out of season, ie £1 camping token + £5 for EHU + £4 PER PERSON, PER NIGHT for their COMPULSARY entertainment passes (that we had no intention of using )........I didn't even get around to asking how much they'd rip me off for the dog charge!!!
Needless to say the tokens are all in the recycle bin and we're booking 2 other sites of our own choice at £10.50 per night and £13.50 per night!!

There are always hidden terms and conditions with these offers..
As with anything in life..there is no such thing as a free(or nearly) free lunch.
Typical Sun.
I never expected to camp for a £1 but compulsary 'entertainment' passes??? I don't think so!

there was no meantion of ehu for a £1, it does say all the other things are extra, this will include dogs, awning in some sites, and as normal haven type sites will inforce there entertain passes on you.

my sister always goes on the sun 9.50hols shes always ripped off normaly costing her couple of hundred as she doesnt drive; passes, linen etc
I have been doing these since Oct 2006 and you cannot be "ripped off"
the extras info and pricing is on the website AND the pullout in the newspaper,so you know beforehand what you will be charged!!
you do not HAVE to take their linen ( we take our own ) or the entertainments passes ( some people just use the site as a base)
we can only holiday during school holidays, and so we save £££'s by booking with the SUN !
If you can go during term time however, always check to see how much it would be to book direct,as it may be the same or cheaper / than the Sun
