hi, it's my husbands 40th at the end of October and I'm thinking of going somewhere camping for a few days away to celebrate - just him, me and our 10 year old. As much as we would love to go in a fancy hotel and visit a city it would all end up far too expensive. So, I'm looking for somewhere with great views, near to somewhere interesting and somewhere to go if the weather is dire - I know this is vague but I'm really stumped. Can some of you let me know your favourite sites just so I can look for some inspiration. Thanks. xx

Cardiff?   On the edge of hundreds of acres of parkland and sports fields but a short riverside walk to the centre of one of the UK's most pleasant cities. St Fagan's outdoor museum, Castell Coch and Caerphilly Castle within easy driving distance, as well as the attractions of the capital itself.

What about somewhere in the York area?  Some nice sites round there, and loads to see in the city itself, whatever the weather.

Chertsey C&C site.  Right on the river Thames and good transport connections to get into London for some sight seeing and theatres.
