Hi fellow campers!
I'm new to this website. Just got back from a week in Maker Heights in Cornwall. (Amazing place by the way, a must go!) Were from Northampton and it's at least a 6 hour drive, so we only go once a year and recently you can only camp there around august. But I've been looking for somewhere a little closer, up to 4 hours or so away so we can go more often.
I've done many searchers on the net for campsites with open fires, and there are a lot. But I'm looking for somewhere that we can camp anywhere in the area, have our own open fire, and spend most of the night listening to our music on an old stereo. Most sites are family oriented so they don't like us playing music at 3am. Close to a beach would be a bargain
Any advice would be great
Cheers, Nick

LOL. I look for the opposite of what you want.
Although, I do like a campfire, and it seems that many places allowing open fires are also more relaxed in other ways. C&C Club sites are great for families and facilities, but no fires!
I found that the reviews one finds via Google Maps are more likely to be written by people such as yourself. That is to say, I'll see more people complaining about overly-strict management there. To search this way, enter your area into Google Maps. Then, once you've got your location, clear the search field and type in "campsites." A lot of places that aren't even listed on here show up there, as well as all the ones that are. Many of them, if you click on them, will lead to reviews (generally on TripAdvisor). I've just noticed that the reviews of the same sites seem to have a different orientation.
If a fire is what you want, keep in mind that having a fire raised up off the ground is OK in many places that say "no fires." You can get a fire pit cheaply, or rig something up, or even use a portable BBQ. Call and ask!

Oh, I also wanted to say that if you're willing to drive up to Scotland, wild camping is legal. Please camp responsibly!

Shell Island? Think its just under 4hrs drive from you.
I haven't stayed there, I've heard mixed reviews tbh..but I know you can camp in the dunes and have fires...and the tents are supposed to be very spread out so sound may not be a problem?
