Hi Is it me or are there more camping sites starting to phase out pitches for tents going to hard standings, and having less tents or not having them at all.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I'd be interested to know which sites have done this?
I am aware Caravan Club sites may refuse 'Tenters', but I have been to sites where although they have a 'tents only' area, the other areas that have hard standing for vans etc, will let me put my tent there.
I use Eco-Mats under my SIG (whatever the pitch), and 'Rock Pegs' that allow ground penetration.
Obviously, if the 'Hard Standing' is a slab of concrete of 5*7 metres, I'm snookered.
Regards James
------------- In the beginning there was darkness.
Then I bought a tent.
I'm not destitute, I'm just poor.
I've used both groundsheets on grass before and its not as bad as putting the groundsheet straight on the ground but obviously not as good as just using the breathable groundsheet.
I have only known one site in the general area I usually go camping which stopped taking tents. In fact they stopped taking tourers altogether and just concentrated on statics. However, camping seems to have become much more popular over the last couple of years so finding sites with available pitches at short notice is becoming more difficult especially if you want EHU
