I need help to decide which campsite to go to as we really can't decide!!!!  It's for 2 adults and 2 children (2 and 6 years) staying in a tent.  BARLEYLANDS (Essex) is £16 per night and has a farm right next to it and RIVERSIDE VILLAGE HOLIDAY PARK (Essex) has a river right next to it.  I've read the reviews on the ukcampsite website and both appear to have reasonable reviews.  We're stuck - which one??!!  Have you been to either/both?  I need quick replies as time is running out I'm afraid!!  Thank you.

I think there's quite a bit for kids to do at Barleylands. My daughter used to take hers there quite often when they were younger (they only live 20 minutes away). They also used to have a huge boot sale on Sunday, don't know if they still do.

We visited the steam fair at barleylands which is on in Sept a few times, for children I imagine the site has a lot to offer, however it was severely lacking once it reached the evenings in terms of any entertainment.

Barleylands! We love it there, been twice and going back next week.We were paying £9 per night, but apparently it has gone up to £10.We take our fire pit/BBQ and the kids have acres of space to run around. There is normally about 30 of us that go (mainly kids) and we all have a fab time.

There is a petting farm, haven't been in it as it's about £20 odd and some lovely shops. There is also a small pond in the middle which is lovely to walk round.

The toilet block was locked up at night last time but there was a disabled one open. You do need a code to get in and out at night and a code for the loos, but i couldn't work the portable ones so used the disabled.

The boot sale is still on on sundays, and they have a farmers market every month. The owner is very friendly and any probs they come straight over, but they leave you alone at all other times. We was given our own part of the site the first time we went which was fab and there was no one around us at all.

You have prob been and gone as i write this? Let us know how you got on?

Angela
