We have just returned from a 6 day stay at this adult only campsite in Cambridgeshire but the campsite page does not give the option to review.

On a positive note the site is reasonably quiet although is under the flight path of a local airport so some noise from planes. The site is well positioned for visiting all nearby attractions and many National Trust properties. The camping field was large and reasonably flat.

The site was not, however, well tended, the ladies toilet did not appear to have been cleaned the whole time we were there and the facilities are not modern as stated on the website. Showers, of which there were only 2 needed to be paid for and there was only 1 washing up sink again which needed money to access hot water, this again was not mentioned on the website.

The reception was very musty and dark and locked most of the time, you have to ring a bell and wait to be attended to, we did not meet the owner the whole time we were there only the lady from next door!

On the Friday evening it was very noisey with what sounded like band practice from the large house on site, not to everyones taste.

Also,as campers we were denied an electric hook up pitch when booking despite the fact that there were many free electric pitches the whole time we were there.

Not a site I would recommend or visit again. A view shared by several other campers I spoke to during my stay. Very disappointing especially as it claims to be caravan and camping club approved.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

I have just returned from this site also and tried to enter a review.....but am unable. I totally agree with a lot of the things you have mentioned.

Musty closed reception, and no sign of an owner (just the old lady!), poor facilities....2 showers 20p for about 5 mins of hot water. The pay box for the shower is located outside of the shower cubicle on the opposite side of the washroom so it's your choice whether to make a mad nude dash to put your money in or risk wasting your water!! No on site shop. Hedges round the site are very very tall leylandii conifers that block out a lot of the light in certain places. No sign of any cleaners etc.

However.......as we decided to go away for a last minute bank holiday weekend, and finding most sites booked up we reserved a tent pitch here...not knowing what to expect. The price was £14 per night for the pitch and 2 adults (very reasonable for a bank holiday). The grass was neatly mowed, we shared the massive tent field with only 3 tents while we were there. We wanted peace and quiet and to do lots of cycling, and got it. If this site is this quiet at bank holidays i imagine it to be the same all summer (as it's adults only). There are 4 decent pubs in the village and a nice one in the next village. We have been on sites much much worse than this and overall we had a great time.

It's not somewhere i would recommend to people who like top class sites and spotless facilities but i would certainly return due to the lack of children, cheapness and location :-)

We have camped there in 2011. We didn't want EHU. We were on the large field with very few people on there. All bar one couple were like us, first time visitors. We stayed for 2 nights on a hot May weekend. There were very few people on site so the facilities coped. They were clean but dated. We nicknamed the site Torchwood after the TV programme as there was a lovely children's play area but abandoned as only adult only site and all the information in the office finished in 2008, nothing newer. The couple who had been before told us that the site used to be a family one but the owners had a bad experience so made it adult only. They then went on to say the reason it was in a time warp was that the owner passed away in 2008 & the lady running it was his widow. We found the site peaceful and we met the cleaner who was cleaning. It was a good base for Wicken Fen & we would go again for a couple of nights.
Hope that helps.
