Hey!
Me and my boyfriend are looking to go camping over the bank holiday weekend, hopefully somewhere on the isle of wight (we're both from the new forest, so it's pretty close)
I've been looking at all the sites on here, and to be honest, its pretty overwhelming and giving me quite a headache!
Can anyone recommend a simple campsite (we're not fussed about swimming pools or on-site entertainment) that is walking distance to a pub and a short drive to a supermarket?
The ones we seemed to find were very family orientated, which is fine, but we're not looking for crazy haven/butlins type place with children running around everywhere :-p
Any help will be awesome :)

Everything crazily busy over here at moment and bank holiday likely to be heaving. We have visited many of the island sites and quiet ones within walking distance to a pub are hard to find. However, Stoats Farm at Totland is a very laid back site - basic facilities but situated at foot of Tennyson Downs with excellent pub right opposite entrance to site. You can walk to Totland for beach and small shop but supermarkets can be found in Freshwater, not far away. Not too far from Yarmouth ferry either.
We were put off when we first arrived as everything seemed quite scruffy, but if you go into the top camping field this is lovely. Sloping but flat at the top. Very quiet here with gloroius views (and sunsets!) Toilets and showers are basic but generally clean.
There is a shop, bus stop outside, fabulous walks but no other facilities so doesn't attract the hoards. Pam, the owner is friendly and helpful.
Good luck.let me know if you want info on any others.
Comletely agree with freda 1, but check with the site as i know at August bank holiday they normally hold an open air concert so if thats happening it is not that peacefull.
Thankyou so much, Stoats Farm sounds lovely!
After I posted this message, I found Appuldurcombe Gardens Holiday Park - it seems to have more facilities than we need, but good reviews.
Do you know anything about this park?

Yes, have stayed there and enjoyed it, though it was early in season. More formal and better tended than Stoats. Has bar, entertainment and pool. Very different atmosphere. Red Funnel do good ferry and site deal.
Nice location, again lovely walks. You can walk to village pub easily or a super country walk to Godshill which has a 2 nice pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. Shopping not far at Ventnor or little further to Morrisons at Lake.
I would guess you would have a job getting in there at the time you want, but it is well worth a try.
We stayed at Whitefield Forest last summer and loved it. Large terraced individual pitches, not too big and very laid back, quiet and chilled. Not really any pubs that close tho.
