Can members please advise on which are the best camping sites in the north west, we have just bought some gear and fancy a local trip for a couple of nights.

You can choose by area, or even better is you can pinpoint your chosen destination area on a map, then select your requirements, e.g. toilets, showers, tents etc. then you can find all sites within 5 , 10 or 20 miles of your marker

First of all, you will probably find that your thread is moved to a different forum on this site, one specifically for campsite enquiries - just follow the links in your email notifications and they will take you to whereve it is moved to.

By "North West" do you include the Lake District or are you keeping it to around God's own county of Lancashire?

As to which are best it all depends on your circumstances. I prefer remote, small to medium independent family-run sites with few but decent facilities. I don't want club houses or playgrounds but I do want beautiful fews and space for the kids to play and to roam.

So what electorate are you trying to please on your camp?

Thanks for the welcome, I have not posted before, because since joining we have been contemplating getting into camping and despite the weather around here we have decicided to go for it now , Mad hey !!!

We are planning on going anywhere within a 20-30 mile radius of Preston, I think we have decided on Clitheroe,
