Starting to plan ahead for next year and thinking we might give Dorset a try this time, done Wales, North and South, Cornwall, Norfolk, Northumberland, Yorkshire, Lancs, although not all camping. I know I can look on the campsite search and will do but some of the best sites we've visited have come as direct recommendations off here and to be honest after the first few pages you start to lose the will to live!!

So, this is a break down of what we would like:

* Somewhere with the feel of Fforest Fields

* Somewhere with a good dog walk, or even better somewhere our Bailey can swim

* Somewhere with some nice places to visit in the area

* A pool on site would be a plus point for my son and daughter (although she'll be 18 by then and may not want to come!)

* Not fussed about clubhouses, in fact prefer sites that don't have them.  A shop on site or nearby would be good

* Fishing, preferably onsite, but nearby would be okay

* Good clean facilities and large pitches paramount.

Are we asking too much? Does this site exist??

Thanks in advance

It's a lot of criteria though, very few places will fit all those points, depends which are more crucial and which are the nice to haves

Ulwell near Swanage, Wareham Forest, Wilksworth Farm nr Wimborne

Wareham Forest is a paradise for dogs as you have access directly to the forest from your pitch.  Lovely loos and showers.

The only trouble we find with Dorset is the traffic is so bad everywhere in the height of the season.

Thank you.

Obviously we know we would be really lucky to find all the criteria on one site, but that was just to give an idea of the sort of places we like.

*Good clean facilites and dog walk paramount

*Everything else would be nice to have

Hey Tracey

If you're members of the C&CC club check out their Corfe Site, it's fantastic.

Great walking for the dog just off site and Corfe village itself is very doggie friendly with at least 2 fab pubs that allow dogs in.

You can take the steam train from Corfe into Swanage too and dogs ride for free!

Hi Downshay Farm is lovely/big pitches on a picturesque site but very quiet- its within walking distance of steam train to Swanage. Wareham Forest has big pitches/shop/outdoor lovely pool, and is quiet. Lulworth Cove is walking distance if you are fit- to Durdle Door/beach/miles of dogwalks along the coast path, a shop and bar food. Its pricey and loos are not up to much, not as quiet as the other two but its location/location. Id love any of these for a holiday.

Burnbake.  No pool but very relaxed feel...There are some sites near Charmouth where you can look for fossils if you are so inclined.

Wareham Forest has the pool, dog walks, shop, nice places to visit and last time we went it was very clean.
Dorset is lovely, very picturesque, and seemed very dog friendly.
Off topic, but what is so good about Forest Ffields? I hear it mentioned a lot?
