The OH, our 5 year old son and myself are due to go to Hoddam Castle, Dumfries on Monday for 4 nights camping. Weather forecast is not good. Would you go or would you stay home?
I have a 6 year old and a 10 year old rain sun snow that's what camping is all about. I suppose it all depends on how far you are away from home if it does get to much.
Well we went a couple of weekends ago and the weather was meant to be unsettled but apart from rain when we arrived for half an hour and rain the morning we left, we had it great so I would chance it. The break will do you good and kids like rain - well mine do (6,4 and 20mths)!
I was just about to reply and say don't rely on the weather reports as they are more often wrong than right when it comes to telling you what the weather will be like tomorrow let alone longrange lol. Glad you went and enjoyed it

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We have gone, even when the forecaste has not been good, and still had a great time. Forecast has been wrong before as well, and instead of the predicted awful weather we have had decent weather.
I am having a similar quandry - meant to be heading to the Lakes on Tuesday for a few nights. Haven't booked anywhere, so no worries re. cancellation... The weather forecast isn't particularly rainy, it's just soooo cold at the moment! Doesn't make sitting out in the evening (or at any time of day for that matter) seem a good idea. We only have a pop up tent so more for fair weather camping.
Kind of thinking we might go for a last minute cottage - but a lot more money, obviously...
