Hi, I'm looking for the perfect site for next summer (it's never too early!) - can you knowledgeable people help? I've tried the site search for beach sites but it throws up so many results I can't narrow it down!

We'll probably be two adults and two teenage offspring (19 & 17), possibly with an extra 17 year old boy.

These are the absolute priorities:

1. Must be within 10 minutes walk of a beach (want to use the car as little as possible but we're beach fanatics)
2. Must be within 20 minutes walk of at least one of village/town/harbour/chippy/pub etc.
3. Must have superb washroom/toilet/shower facilities. Abundant, free hot water in the showers would be a lovely extra!
4. Need decent sized pitches - we'll have two tents - a Coleman Bispace 300 and (probably) an Outwell Nevada M (looking for the best price on one now)

We don't need an EHU but might use it if it was there.

Looking for anywhere from south Wales round the south coast to Norfolk but a surfing beach would be a plus. I really like the look of Porth Beach but I'm not sure whether the pitches would be big enough.

Help! (Please!!)

How about Golden Cap at Seatown in Dorset. The below is taken from the top of Golden Cap. The campsite can be see mid-left and the pub is the white building almost on the beach. The village with another pub is about 15 minutes walk away.

we went to watergate bay near newquay for about 15 years . this was our boys and our favourite location. lovely site not too close to newquay but easy to get in by car or bus. or even walk along the beach .

we used to use the c&cc site at tregurrian which is next door to watergate bay holiday park  ( newquay ). watergate park has a small poo,l it is large but very clean and well laid out, with a nice little shop that we use to use for convenience.

a brilliant beach for surfing or boarding , with a choice of many other beaches near by.

Some good ideas so far folks - thank you! I like the look of Golden Cap - we like sites with not too much actually on site but access to civilisation when we want it!

Really like Mawgan Porth as well so one of the sites there might be a possibility...

Plans, plans, plans... what fun!!

Showing my husband the Nevada M today - hope he likes it! then there's the footpring, extension, carpet....

Another view of Golden Cap at Seatown...now who could ask for more than a campsite next to a pub next to a beach and they do excellent fish and chips too

I agree. The gravel beach shelves very quickly so you don't get long rollers suitable for surfing. When I was at Golden Cap canoes and windsurfing seemed to be the thing...and you get plenty of wind.

golden Cap's definitely my favourite at the moment, although we now also quite fancy the idea of the Isle of Wight. Maybe not so good for surfing...!

I used to be decisive but now I'm not so sure...
