Looking at your "signature" - did you go to Naburn Lock with a tent and if so what were the pitch prices??

Many thanks

Think it was about 22.50 over bank holiday for 2 adults 3 kids and no EHU, we like it there, a nice quiet site about half hour drive away from us.

We were in Whitby over the weekend and the winds were gale force. Watched one huge tent take flight over the field and other three were ripped and completely flattened. Glad we were in a caravan (lol)

It was the same at Flamborough, the winds damaged quite a few tents and the people were packing up Sunday afternoon/evening. Windbreaks trashed etc.

We had a restless night in the motorhome as the wind was just so loud and strong. I got up for the loo at about midnight and the last remaining tent was re-pegging again and had one of the neighbours cars from a caravan as another windbreak.

We were just up the coast from Filey at Blue Dolphin. Same story with the gales: many tents destroyed or damaged and many people packing it in Sunday evening.

There was a tremendous community spirit as people attempted to save other peoples tents and kit and generally offer assistance and advice to people with tent damage or immanent damage. A credit to all involved.

We toughed it out as our tent has some solid steel poles and, whilst it did get shook around a bit, took it all admirably.

I have camped around the Filey cliffs many times before, and know how strong the wind can get here. Sunday afternoon to Monday morning were the worst gales I've ever experienced here.

Yeah we were at Thornwick Bay, Flamborough over the weekend and it was so sad, to see some of the tents and awnings, all over the place.

Can see some insurance claims going in today.

We ended up staying home and letting the kids camp out in the garden, of which they loved!!!

So we are still awaiting our first "proper" camping experience but feel this may have to wait until next year due to work commitments and the temperature drop on a night.
