Can I say as a site owner campers do not know what we have to put up with at times.

Campers leave rubbish on the site, they will not clean up after using the shower the toilet offten looks as if a tramp had used it and we have to clean up after you all.

OK not every camper is bad its the tiny few who ruin it for others. We have one shower due to planning refusing new builds so get on with it our site cost thousands to get up and running no moaning our problem do not want sympathy! but please do not expect all home comforts your camping after all looking back 20 years you use a hedge back as a toilet showers didnt exist are you all going soft caravaners should use their own showers.

one person female was real put out why NO PLUG FOR HER HAIR DRYER! Oh what a shame thats what HOOK UPS are for but she didnt like paying that extra £2.50?

As for tents they are now becoming small bungalows well keep up the moans campers owners should put the prices up double.

think I'll give your site a miss

Me too! Where was it again?

Messrs Wardell - when we were camping over 25 years ago we did have showers and, believe it or not, we did have flush toilets as well.

Yes I'd be interested to know that too.

We always clear up our rubbish and never leave anything behind us, I've even been known to move other people's rubbish after they've left.  If a mop and bucket is provided in the showers then I will always clean the shower after I have used it.

We regularly use EHU but I fully understand people that choose not to, and I don't think providing a plug socket in the toilets is making it a luxury campsite, I would expect that as something pretty basic.

I like my 'home comforts' when I'm camping, or should I say 'tent comforts', that's why I choose my sites very carefully and as said above no one site suits all, I'm sure there are plenty who enjoy your site, but after your post, as a 'camper' I don't think I would feel welcome.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

And neither would I!

Notice that Messrs Wardell hasn't put his location on his profile - but wherever his site is, with an attitude like that I'm surprised he gets any business. I certainly wouldn't want to go there anyway, wherever it is. Seems like a lesson in customer relations is long overdue.

They might be refusing new builds however ive seen on a few sites they use the portacabin types, even saw them at chatsworth fair yesterday for the stallholders etc.

As for showering, I cant complain when able bodied "normals" take ages, except having to stand on crutches in agony waiting. Reason being it takes me all my time juggling muscle pain, fatigue, trying to dress/undress, stand in a shower and wash etc.

Some sites do have a larger disabled classed shower cubicle which is nice but when theres not even a fold to wall seat for us who can short distance crutch walk the pain from standing is horrendous, as for the make do plastic garden chairs no thanks, dont fancy a trip to A&E cos its either welded to my ample butt or I have plastic splinters cos its gave in under the strain! You also find ignorant able bodies hogging it too usually, when we only get 1 compared to them! Same with disabled loos!

Then again according to "some" the disabled shouldnt be seen, never mind heard! And god forbid if we enjoy camping....

10 - 15 mins doesn't seem "too long" to me!

by the time I wash my body, wash and condition my hair, get dry, moisturised and dressed it's longer than that!

don't think I have ever "caused a queue" though?!

my hubby however, only spends about 5 mins in the shower!

I don't think it's excessive, either, especially if you're shaving your legs as well!

I've got very thick hair, and unless the shower is like a pressure washer, it takes ages to get it properly wet and properly rinsed.

While we are on the subject of showers, I HATE fixed shower heads with a vengence!

However, I have learnt to live with them at campsites, and take a small flannel with me to help reaching the difficult to reach areas!

DK

I hate them too, but because I hate getting my hair wet unless I'm washing it. I've yet to find a shower cap that really works, so prefer to just slide the shower head down to shoulder height.

The OP was complaining about people taking too long in the shower when others were waiting. I asked her if she had a shower in her van and she said she had. So she does have a choice, the comfort of her own shower whenever she likes, or queue with everyone else. No point in complaining about it.

Too true, Franbee. If they start making tents with decent en suite showers, you won't catch me queuing to use the site ones, that's for sure!

Well, I found the site. It's in N. Yorks and has 3 reviews on here (only opened this year). All 3 reviews comment on how friendly the owners are, so maybe we caught him/her on a bad day.

Still won't be going though.
