Hello, after a few years of touring, we are now considering a season pitch. Knowing our holidays and weekends are paid for is appealing, especially in these problematic times!

Just wondered what the downsides are, if any.

You have to go back to the same place all the time would be the main downside for me.

I like having a seasonal pitch.  Ours is only 45 mins drive away and there are so many places round the area to explore.  I like getting there and it's all set up.  The security guy on site even plugs in the leccy for me so my fridge is cooled for when I get there.  I also like not having to pack everything up and just locking the door and leaving.

We have had various seasonal pitches over the last few years but do tend to move each year. The advances are that its there and ready to use when you want. Some sites allow awnings to be left up and others dont - so thats down to you on if you require this facility of not. Season times can vary greatly between sites as well. At the moment we are on a caravan club site and one of the down sides to that is that we had to completely remove the caravan for 1 night between May and Sept, also on CC sites you do have to take everything inside when you leave ie water, steps, waste etc where as on most seasonal ptiches thats one of the advanages is that everything is left ready to use. Basically choose your site carefully to suit you - everyones ideal is different!
