I love the west coast of scotland, but have been tempted to try the East coast next year. We've looked through the camp site search but cannot see anything suitable with good reviews.

Looking for something quiet between Dunbar and Dundee, no bars or clubs. Would like EHU and a park for the kids would be ideal. Dont like the holiday park type of sites, prefer farm sites etc.

Any recomendations?

We stayed at the new CC site at Forfar in June this year, it is an ex council run site which the CC club has taken over, BUT it has excellant and modern clean facilities and in a super location by a small lock, which has nice walks around it.(see pics below)

There is a childrens play area NOT on the site but depending where you position your caravan you can clealy see it.

Forfar is a nice little town and has a Tesco less than 1/2 mile from the site, the site  is well located for touring by car in that area.

Sauchope Links in Crail is a favourite of ours. Quiet, peaceful, play area, right on shore side, excellent views, outdoor pool ( if you're brave ), clean well maintained facilities block, within walking distance of Crail, with harbour, couple of hotels / shops /cafes. Also within easy reach of St Andrews too.

Be careful in the St Andrews area - most (but one) have restricted their tent size to 4 - berth.  'Nydie' near Strathkinnes do not and they tick all the boxes for you - relatively new site but clean, family run, near St Andrews and a huge open field.  Check it out on here - it has 17 positive reviews.  Love it and on top 5 list in scotland.
