Hi, Im new here and wondered if anyone had any reliable info on Faskally caravan park.  I'm due to go there soon and have just come accross some not so promising reviews!

I'd really appreciate any help going with this, thanks in advance.

Hi Carol and welcome, Its been a couple of years since iv been to faskally and to be honest the whole site was very rundown and grubby. I certainly wont be back again, depends what your looking for really but there's a couple of cracking sites a few miles away from faskally that i'v stayed at loads and i'd highly recommend. Have a look here too

Hello Carol.  I too agree with the above comments.  Sorry and this is probably not what you wanted to hear.  We went last June and it was our first camping trip.  At the time we thought it was fine but we had nothing to compare it too.  Looking back the site was very overcrowded and did get rowdy at night. As Reggaj suggests there are alot of nicer campsites near by.  Hope I have not put too much of dampner on things

Thanks for the quick replies everyone, it's about what I thought. We'll go see what it's like and move on if we don't think it's for us.    It will be fairly easy as there are only two of us travelling.

I'll post again about the site when we get back.

I've only ever driven past it but it always looks busy.  The pitches are on a slope and i always feel sorry for the tenter's pitched on the slopes :(

We always stay at Blair Castle Caravan Site and wouldn't ever stay anywhere else, i've got no choice, the kids, parents and dh want to go back every time :)

Definitely not my favourite site. Wouldn't rush back at all.

If they still lock the toilets at night, make sure that you are not pitched nearby, as the long queues outside the only one left open can make a fair bit of noise.

Also, if the weather is not good, be careful where you pitch, as drainage in many areas could be better. On an admittedly pretty wet weekend, our pitch ended up looking like no mans land on the Somme. And a couple of motorhomes were bogged to the axles.

Having said that, it's a good site for children and family oriented things, and the town of Pitlochry is walkable. The river nearby is picturesque, and the site is well located.

As you say - give it a go, but be prepared to move on to somewhere like Blair Castle which, in my view, is infinitely better.

Is it to late to change ? if not try Milton of Fonab right on the edge of Pitlochry by river, an easy walk into town.

Ardgualish Farm is just a bit beyond there (past Queens View) and was lovely when we stayed there in June...we drove past Faskally and it looked very busy with everyone packed in like sardines...some tents were right next to the road too - not my idea of a countryside retreat!

Thanks everyone for all your help. I'm afraid I chickened out and didn't go to Faskally, I'm in Blair Castle park and loving it!

We drove past Faskally this afternoon and it did look crowded although I couldn't see any tents at all.

Thanks all, Carol

Glad you're enjoying yourselves, Carol.

See agri mentioned Milton of Fonab - spent one night there is a tent some four years ago and that was one night too many. Felt very unwelcome and touring field we were put in was a mess - okay, it had been wet the week before - lakes, gouged out grass where folks had bogged down. Will say the loos were good and it's an easy walk into Pitlochry, though. Maybe I was just unlucky.
