The CCC is usually very responsible.  Perhaps anyone booked/thinking of going with a dog should contact them?

Prof. Bellamy, being a botanist, I believe, should be able to shed some light on the situation. 

If it is fungi, then there is the possibility it is connected to release of spores in certain species. 

Hope the affected animals are recovering.

If it is Blue Green algae its been causing problems all over the country just lately,canals and lakes have been closed in Lancashire and a swimming event at Windermere was cancelled because the levels were too high.

It arrives quite quickly so it will be difficult to say where the water will be unsafe,our local reservoir has a permanent sign warning you of the dangers

I used to water ski and jet ski years ago and we were always told to look out for the green water as it can make you ill and give skin complaints and can kill livestock and pets.

It could also be fungi as while walking around a local lake a couple of weeks ago we found more mushrooms than we have ever seen of  all different colours.
