In the summer we like to take our tent to a family site within walking of a beach. Over the last 3 years we've been to Jaywick (near Clacton-on-Sea), Great Yarmouth and this year to Brean Sands in Somerset.
While all these holidays have been enjoyable, we are getting fed up of huddling behind wind-breaks all the time.
Does anyone know of a sheltered campsite near a sheltered beach? Or do I just need to accept that holidaying at the coast in the UK will mean putting up with the wind?
Thanks
Helen
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
i think you have been unlucky, we have been to brean every year for past 5 years and had pretty good weather (no wind), in fact every where we have been its not been windy and we allways go to the coast, i daren't suggest anywhere, cuz you know sods law, when you go it'l be windy

Helen, Not meaning to be facetious, but if you are on a beach and the weather is coming off the sea, it's bound to be 'in yer face'. This is the UK afterall!
But if it is coming from landward, Azure Seas is completely sheltered.
The site is a bit 'querky' so read the reviews carefully. (I live just up the road and have used the site myself so can tell you that they are representative.) But if you request a cliff edge pitch (not really a cliff, more of a steep slope.), you will wake to wonderful sunrises.
