Hi, can anyone recommend a campsite that is as good as Wareham Forest but without the bugs?!

We had a fantastic week there in June but had to go inside the caravan by 9pm due to the number of bugs that were attacking us every night.

Ideally we would like a pool and good cycling from the campsite - any help would be appreciated!

Try Wilksworth Farm at Wimborne, range of pitch types and a pool and large play area for kids.

Never been to Wareham forest but we like Norden farm Corfe Castle in that area. No pool but Studland is very close and plenty of cycling and walking

If you are heading as far down as Cornwall, River Valley Park at London Apprentice (nr St Austell) is lovely.  Has indoor pool, spotless loos (as Wareham forest does) and a cycle trail runs past the site from St Austell to Pentewan, the route is 2.5 miles of off road pathway that follows the river to the sea.  You can branch off into the woods from the cycle trail if you want extra paths.

Thanks everyone, I have had a look at the recommended sites.

River Valley sounded great until I got to the 6th review from someone who had been in June 10 - sounds like they had an even worse mossi problem than we did at wareham!

Any more recommendations would be gratefully received!

South Lytchett Manor is just down the road .... but no pool. Avoid the EHU tent area as it is next to a very loud & annoying play area!

Ulwell Caravan Camping at Swanage does have an indoor pool .... not stayed here though!

No or few insects at either!

Beacon Hill C.C. has a pool but a bit grubby.

We went in September, no mozzies and stunning weather.  I always think Cornwall is best in September, we've gone there for years and always had good weather throughout September.

Hi Seanthefridge

That sounds familiar! I thought we were badly hit due to stagnant ditch water.....obviously just an issue in the area rather than the site. We are going later in June this year - I may have to hope that the bug season is short!

Still grateful for any suggestions for great campsites in the UK though - we are flexible as to where we go.

Merley Court, Sandy Balls if you've got children, Lytton Lawn if you haven't.

None of these have inflicted bugs on us and we've been to each of them at all sorts of different times of the year.

Vic
