We started camping last summer and have definitely got the bug ! We have upgraded our tent from a quecha to a vango orchy 600. We are looking at camping in St.Ives and have provisionally booked a week at little trevarrick , carbis bay-has anyone ever camped there? Or any other recommendations for campsites to stay in this region ? I have read the reviews but know you guys are the best judges
Thankyou

haven't stayed at little trevarrick, but popped in and had a look around the site in september with view to staying next june, we found site to be veryyyyyyy clean toilets and showers were spotless, bins empty and a secure gate on entry, lovely feel to the site, some flat pitches which would be great for tents. yes we will be staying there next june and can't wait.

Polmanter is very nice. Large pitches, very clean showers and loos and has a nice warm pool too. You can walk to St. Ives from the park or catch the bus.

Tracy, it depends what sort of site you are after.  If you want all singing/dancing good quality site, then Polmanter is worth a look but they get booked up very quickly.  Little Trevarrack is another lovely site (owned by members of the same extended family as Polmanter).  It has a swimming pool but no entertainment/ club/ pub on site.  Both sites have a regular bus service to St Ives from the site (at least during the main season).

I really like St Ives, but have been put off more recently by the sheer number of people who visit.  Car parking is a bit of a nightmare, so I would use the bus.

When we go to Cornwall, we tend to use Globe Vale now, just outside Redruth.  We find it more central - useful because we like going to different places.  Globe Vale is a lovely site.  No swimming pool but has a very small bar which provides some meals.  Extremely well kept and pitches (even on grass) have water hook-up.  Reasonably priced too.  These three sites are all really good, quality sites, but they offer something different to each other.

We stayed at Little Trevarrack the week after the whit heatwave this year (last hol in our tent) - just our luck.  The campsite is fantastic, we stayed in the field nearest to the reception and had a really spacious pitch.  Unfortunately the weather was pretty rotten so we couldn't use the pool but it looked just like something you would expect to find on the Med.

Theres a nice Italian restaurant a few minutes walk away, as is a newsagent and an indoor play area for the kids just next door.  A tesco is about 5 mins in the car, to get to St Ives we drove to a station about 10 mins away which was just two stops from St Ives - St Ives by train is highly recommended as the views of the beach and sea are spectacular.  We were out of season so we didn't have the mobile shop or shuttle bus on site but we didn't miss them.  You could walk to Carbis Bay (which is a stunning sheltered beach) but its a quite a steep return journey on foot so we took the car and parked directly over looking the beach for £5.

I'd highly recommend the site - it would've been better if the sun had shined but wouldn't any holiday!!

Cambs or Kernow?
There is more than 1 St Ives.

Just remember, if it is older than yours, smaller than yours but next to yours, there is probably no credit owing on it...

Like others, I assumed Kernow in my response, as it's the 'bigger holiday destination'.  The reference to Little Treverrack and Carbis Bay by the original poster was also another giveaway, for me.

Little Trevarrack is a fab site, been twice already and booked again for next year.

Very clean, very safe anda perfect location in every way. Loads of great beaches around, St Ives is lovely and you are only a short drive away from the south coast and places like penzance, Marazion, St Michaels mount etc, etc

Best of all no bonfire burning, beer fuelled singing louts...HEAVEN
